Sanjay Leela Bhansali on location hunt for Padmavati
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is chasing his dream of making a larger-than-life story on the queen of Mewar, with a vengeance. With the production of Padmavati finally poised to take off, Viacom 18 has come on board to produce the '170 crore project. SLB is known to be a tough taskmaster, and the director’s movies have always showcased grand sets. Sanjay is now hunting for an outdoor location in the interiors of Maharashtra, and seems to have zeroed down on a tiger reserve to shoot a part of his movie in.
Says a source close to the developments, “SLB and his art directors recently visited Chandoli national park in Kolhapur, which is a tiger reserve. The director is planning to shoot a few portions of the film in the national park.”
Shooting in a national park requires a lot of permissions and approvals from the government, so it will be a while before the necessary approvals are sought and the team gets an official go-ahead signal from the authorities. This will be in addition to the colossal set that is already up in Mumbai’s Mehboob studio.
