Sonakshi opts out of biopic on Dawood’s sister
Only yesterday, we informed you that actress Sonakshi Sinha may be playing Dawood’s sister in her next project, but the latest news is that the actress has opted out of the biopic due to date issues. Sonakshi was approached for the role last year and the actress seemed excited to play Haseena Parker in the film. She was even gaining weight for the role.
She had written on a social networking website, “It’s a great script, a powerful role, a very intriguing story and an opportunity to play a character who is the polar opposite of me. I have always wanted to be a part of a biopic and this is the perfect one. It’s going to be extremely challenging for me and I am looking forward to it.”
The date crunch, we hear, is because of her other upcoming project Force 2 getting delayed. The actress had been shooting for Force 2 but due to John’s leg injury, a schedule of the film was cancelled and delayed the film. And now, since Sonakshi has already given dates for the project she will be finishing Force 2 first and then get straight to work on the shooting of Namaste England — yet another project she has already signed. However, Sonakshi opting out isn’t the only bad news for the biopic’s director Apoorva Lakhia. The original producer of the film was waiting for Sonakshi’s dates, but she apparently got busy with another project in US and therefore decided to opt out of the project too. Now, it seems Apoorva Lakhia will have to find not only a new actor, but also a new producer for the film.
A source close to the development reveals, “Sonakshi will not be able to be a part of Haseena, though she thinks it’s a fantastic script. The film has to be finished in one schedule of 45 days and she is having problems scheduling the same. She feels there is no point in keeping anyone waiting, so after a lot of thought, decided it would be best for all if she opted herself out of the film.”
Director Apoorva Lakhia confirmed the news saying, “Sona and I spoke about it. It’s sad, but she cannot be a part of the film due to date issues.”
