When Richa Chadha came to Fawad Khan’s rescue
Fawad Khan and Richa Chadha are currently in Australia to attend the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. While interacting with the media, the actor was asked to comment on how the film industry back home in Pakistani is different from Bollywood, as the latter seems more uninhibited in its approach towards romance and intimacy on the screen, much like the West. The journalist went on to say how, she feels, the cultures of India and Pakistan are different from each other before trailing off.
At first Fawad couldn’t understand the question. But before he could respond. Richa cut in and said, “I would like to answer that. Sorry I am cutting in. The British before leaving our country divided it into two parts — India and Pakistan. But your question to me doesn’t make sense. Because I think I will have far more in common with Fawad because I am from the North of India than I would have with somebody who is from the South or the North East. I think we should avoid stereotyping in questions or creating differences because the whole intent of art is to not really have borders or boundaries.”
