‘Whole of Bhambla used to be embarrassed of Kangana’

She may be a sartorial delight today, but Kangana Ranaut wasn’t always the showstopper that she is, if her sister Rangoli is to be believed. “The whole of Bhambla used to be embarrassed of Kangana and one of my cousins, used to dress up exactly like Kangana,” reveals Rangoli, who is four years older than Kangana.

Torn shorts and straw hats preceded couture gowns and fascinators, we’re told. “She used to wear torn shorts and straw hats and at social gatherings I used to look at Kangana and go, ‘hello, nice to meet you. But who are you (laughs).”

It all started with their father calling Kangana, ‘Lady Diana’ as a term of endearment. “My father used to lovingly call Kangana ‘Lady Diana’, because she was different from the other kids. But then when she came in seventh or eighth standard, we realised that she was taking the title a bit too seriously. That’s when he stopped calling her that. But now she has actually become the queen of the film industry and we are proud of how she has become so successful.”
