Global e-retailer Amazon on Wednesday laid foundation stone for its largest campus in India in Hyderabad.
The facility is expected to be ready in 2019 and would employ thousands of employees managing backend operations for Amazon’s various global business and technology teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Telangana IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said, “We are extremely happy to see Telangana as Amazon’s destination of choice for their new campus... More marquee companies like Amazon will be foraying into the state in a big way in the coming years.”
Mr David Zapolsky, senior vice-president of Amazon, emphasized that India continues to be one of its high priority markets in terms of investments.
This marks Amazon’s second significant investment in the state in a matter of one year.
