Toyota Kirloskar Motor drives in Glanza at Rs 7.2 lakh
Pune: Toyota Kirloskar Motor has finally entered the growing premium hatchback segment with the launch of the Glanza hatchback to boost sales in Asia's fiercely competitive third biggest car market, with prices starting at Rs 7.22 lakh.
The Toyota Glanza is the first product of the Toyota-Suzuki joint venture, which will also see Maruti Suzuki supplying the Vitara Brezza, the Ciaz and the Ertiga to Toyota.
The Toyota Glanza rivals the other premium hatchbacks in the country such as the Honda Jazz, the Hyundai i20 and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
Toyota Glanza is a rebadged version of Maruti Suzuki's Baleno and the Glanza is now available in two variants and three engine-gearbox options.
"We are happy to announce our entry into the premium hatchback segment to cater to the growing demands of our existing and prospective customers," N. Raja, Deputy MD at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said.
The Glanza is being offered in two variants - G and V, which are based on the Baleno's Zeta and Alpha trims respectively.
Like with the Baleno, the DualJet Smart Hybrid engine is only available with the lower 'G' manual variant, and not with the V, which only gets the K12B engine.
Therefore, the Glanza can be had in four configurations — G MT Smart Hybrid priced at Rs 7.22 lakh, G CVT at Rs 8.30 lakh, V MT at Rs 7.58 lakh and V CVT at Rs 8.90 lakh.
