2018 Maruti Suzuki Brezza with AMT launched
To further strengthen its position (already the segment leader) in the sub-4m SUV space, Maruti Suzuki has updated the Vitara Brezza with an AMT. With this, the situation has been further worsened for its competition, which includes the Honda WR-V, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza AGS variants are priced (ex-showroom Delhi) as follows:
VDi AGS - Rs 8.54 lakh
ZDi AGS - Rs 9.32 lakh
ZDi+ AGS - Rs 10.27 lakh
ZDi+ AGS Dual Tone - Rs 10.49 lakh
While the Brezza’s popularity has not been fazed by the unavailability of a petrol engine, an automatic transmission will only make it even more popular. This is the first time that Maruti is pairing its AMT with the more grunty DDiS 200 version of the 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, which as the name suggest develops 200Nm of peak torque along with 90PS of maximum power. Mileage figures have not been revealed, but are not expected to drop much - the Brezza with the manual transmission returned a tested 21.7kmpl in the city and 25.3kmpl on the highway.
With the facelift, the Brezza now gets safety features like ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors and dual front airbags as standard. Previously, the base LDi and VDi variants were offered only with a driver-side airbag, with customers having to pay an average of about Rs 13,000 more to get the additional safety features.
Design changes to the Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift have been kept to a minimum. First of all, the Brezza is now offered with a new Autumn Orange and Autumn Orange/Pearl Arctic White dual-tone colour. Orange seems to be colour of the season this year, with both the Tata Nexon and the Ford EcoSport also sporting the colour in their newer variants. All the variants of the new Brezza get the chrome front grille and chrome garnish on the boot as standard. And finally, the SUV now gets gloss black alloy wheels instead of the grey ones on the current model.
There are no changes on the inside, except of course the new AMT gear lever.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza AMT goes up against the recently launched Tata Nexon HyprDrive S-SG XZA+ (Rs 10.3 lakh) and the Mahindra TUV300 T8/T10 AMT (Rs 10.16 lakh to Rs 10.91 lakh).
