Mahindra launches XUV500 W3

The new Mahindra XUV500 W3 variant is priced at Rs 12.22 lakh at Mumbai showroom. It replaces the W5 as the new base variant.

Pune: Mahindra, India's second largest utility vehicle maker launched its all-new entry-level W3 variant of its popular XUV500 SUV to woo growing SUV buyers in the country.

The new Mahindra XUV500 W3 variant is priced at Rs 12.22 lakh at Mumbai showroom. It replaces the W5 as the new base variant.

The new entry-level XUV500 W3 narrowly undercuts the starting price of the Tata Harrier which is priced at about Rs 12.70 lakh.

Mahindra XUV500 W3 variant will be available at all Mahindra dealerships across India with immediate effect. Launched in 2011, XUV500 is one of the largest selling premium SUVs in India. It rivals against the likes of Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It will also have a new competitor in MG Hector SUV which will be launched on May 15.

Powering the XUV500 W3 is the same mHawk155 diesel engine with 6th generation Electronically Controlled Variable Geometry Turbocharger. The 2.2-litre mill makes 155 hp and 360 Nm torque and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

Before the launch of the W3 variant, Mahindra XUV500 was available in W5, W7, W9, W11, W11(O), W7 AT, W9 AT, W11 AT, W11(O) AT and G AT variants.
