Benelli has officially started accepting bookings for its much anticipated, faired motorcycle, the 302R. You can book one for a token amount of Rs 30,000 at any DSK Benelli showrooms located across the country. The motorcycle will be launched by mid-July, 2017. It is powered by a 300cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin motor which produces 38PS of power at 10000rpm and 27.4Nm of torque at 9000rpm and is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The 302R competes with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 equipped with a 299cc parallel-twin engine producing 39PS of power at 11000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 10000rpm.

Commenting about the booking commencement, Shirish Kulkarni, chairman, DSK Motowheels, said, “It is quite overwhelming to see that DSK Benelli 302R is receiving such a positive customer response even before it has entered the market. This signifies the trust and brand salience that DSK Benelli has been able to develop amongst the Indian motorcycle enthusiasts. What’s more remarkable about 302R is the fact that the fully faired sports bike is a true manifestation of the Tornado pedigree, whose legacy has enchanted the global superbiking community for about half a century now. Since advance bookings for the premium bike have been initiated, we are foreseeing strong disruptions in the Indian mid-range biking segment.”

Coming to cycle parts, the 302R employs inverted forks upfront and a monoshock with adjustable preload at the rear. Braking duties are taken care of by twin 260mm petal discs at the front and a single 240mm petal disc at the rear. The wheels are likely to be wrapped with Metzelers for optimum performance, and ABS is expected be a standard feature. The bike, once launched, will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 300, KTM RC 390 and the upcoming TVS Akula 310.
