Visually, the XL6 is more than a dressed up Ertiga. It comes with a restyled front fascia with a big hexagonal grille. A subtle chrome strip splits the grille and merges into the DRLs of the LED headlamps. Elements like body cladding and roof rails give it a tough yet premium look. The alloy wheels are also finished in an all-black shade to up the ante. At the back, the XL6 and Ertiga share the same set of LED tail lamps.

In terms of dimensions, the XL6 is bigger than the Ertiga in almost all aspects. But since they are based on the same platform, both models are the same in terms of wheelbase and bootspace. Have a look at the table below for a detailed comparison.

Inside, the XL6 comes with a similar dashboard layout as the Ertiga albeit in an all-black colour scheme. The light wood trim has been replaced by a darker ‘Stone’ trim with a silver insert. As the name suggests, the XL6 is a six seater MPV and comes with captain seats with individual armrests for the middle row.

The XL6 also comes with premium features to distance itself from the Ertiga. This includes LED headlamps with DRLs, LED foglamps, leather upholstery, cruise control and automatic headlamp with follow me home function. Apart from that, the XL6 shares its feature list with the Ertiga and comes with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, climate control, push button start with keyless entry, coloured multi-info display and electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs.

Safety features include dual airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and camera, ISOFIX mounts in the second row, driver and co-driver seat belt reminder and high speed alert. Automatic variants also add Electronic Stability Program (ESP) to the kit.

The XL6 is underpinned by the Ertiga's Heartect platform. It is powered by a sole BS6-compliant 1.5-litre K15B petrol unit that develops 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. The engine also comes paired with Suzuki’s Smart-hybrid tech which provides a torque boost during acceleration. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter a la Ertiga.

The XL6 can be had in six colour options. They are:

  • Nexa Blue

  • Pearl Arctic White

  • Pearl Brave Khaki

  • Prime Auburn Red

  • Metallic Magma Grey

  • Metallic Premium Silver.

Rivals for the XL6 include the Mahindra Marazzo and the Renault Lodgy. Stay tuned to ZigWheels for the first drive review of the XL6 and a detailed comparison with its rivals.
