Bajaj Auto has confirmed that it is planning to launch two new motorcycles in January 2018. The news was confirmed by S Ravikumar, President of Business Development, Bajaj Auto.

Delving deeper into the subject, we believe one of the two motorcycles that are about to be launched could include the Bajaj RS 400. With ever-increasing competition in the Indian two-wheeler market, it seems logical that the Chakan-based manufacturer wants to further exploit the 250-500cc segment in the country. The Rs 400 is likely to be based on the full-faired Pulsar SS 400 concept that was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The concept bike featured the 373cc engine that powers the KTM 390 Duke. Since Bajaj already utilises this engine in the Dominar 400, it seems only logical to plonk it in a sportbike. The Dominar’s 373.2cc DTS-i engine produces 35PS of power and 35Nm of peak torque. We expect the figures to remain the same with the RS 400 as well.

The other motorcycle that is likely to be launched next month could be a refreshed version of the Bajaj Avenger Street 150. Don’t expect any major tinkering though. We believe the cruiser could get an updated paint scheme along with new decals and added features. The Avenger 150 is powered by a 150cc engine which produces 14.54PS of power and 12.5Nm of torque.

Some reports, however, have suggested that Bajaj could launch a new bike under the ‘V’ banner in the entry-level segment. So far, Bajaj has been tight-lipped about its plans for the upcoming year. However, it looks like we won’t have to wait too long to find out more details. So stay tuned to Zigwheels for more updates on Bajaj’s plans for 2018.
