Kawasaki has launched the 2017 Z1000 in the Indian market. It is available in two versions, the standard Z1000 and the top-of-the-line Z1000R. While the base version has a price tag of Rs 14.49 lakh, the Z1000R is priced at Rs 15.49 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi). The ECU settings of the 2017 Z1000 has been changed and it also comes with pre-catalysers to meet new emissions standards. It is now compliant with Euro 4 emission norms. The in-line, four-cylinder, 1,043cc engine produces 142PS at 10000rpm and a peak torque of 111Nm at 7300rpm.

The motor is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and it also features slipper clutch. The instrument cluster gets gear position indicator and shift light. The styling for both the bikes remain same but the Z1000R gets a special paint scheme with subtle accents to distinguish both the motorcycles. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks at front and a horizontal monoshock unit at the back on the Z1000 but the settings have been revised to make the ride quality better. Disc brakes provide anchorage at both ends while ABS is standard.
