MG Motor launches electric SUV ZS EV at Rs 19.88 lakh

For customers who booked it before Jan 17 got a special discount of Rs 1 lakh at Rs 19.88 lakh at New Delhi showroom.

After the successful launch of MG Hector SUV last year, Morris Garages, the British brand owned by Chinese SAIC Motor, has introduced the much awaited MG ZS fully electric internet connected SUV to boost sales in Asia’s third biggest economy.

For customers who booked it before Jan 17 got a special discount of Rs 1 lakh at Rs 19.88 lakh at New Delhi showroom. The ZS EV Excite variant is priced at Rs 20.88 lakh while ZS EV Exclusive costs Rs 23.58 lakh.

Rival Hyundai Kona is priced at Rs 23.71 lakh.

The carmaker had crossed a whopping 2,800 pre-launch bookings in 27 days. Deliveries will start on Jan 27.

Interestingly, the interest shown by Indians for the MG ZS is much higher than the total number of electric cars sold in India during April-December 2019. As per industry estimates 1,554 battery electric cars comprising Mahindra e-Verito, Tata Tigor EV, Hyundai Kona EV and Mahindra e20 were sold in India during the nine month period.

“The ZS EV is a globally-successful product that operates at the intersection of an EV’s sustainability, an SUV’s practicality, and a sports car’s performance,” Rajeev Chaba, President and MD at MG Motor India, said.

It comes with best-in-class features and tech capabilities at a compelling price point, he boasted. “We are confident that this unprecedented value proposition will incentivise more consumers across India to go electric,” Chaba said.
