AAI tells court Vijay Mallya's defunct KFA owes it Rs 250 crore

Agency goes to court after two Rs 100 crore cheques, for 'landing, parking and terminal navigation' fee, bounce.

Mumbai: The Airports Authority of India, agency that controls country's airports and takes fee for parking planes, has told a Delhi court that Vijay Mallya's now defunct Kingfisher Airlines owes it Rs 250 crore towards  fee for 'landing, parking and terminal navigation' required for planes.

AAI also alleges KFA dishonoured two cheques worth Rs 100 crore that were towards payment of these charges.

AAI has also made a plea before the court to declare Vijay Mallya a 'proclaimed offender' as in the past he has failed to appear before courts as well as investigating agencies despite non-bailable warrant were issued in his him.

Earlier also, a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act, PMLA, Court in Mumbai had declared Vijay Mallya a proclaimed offender as he had failed to reply to a non-bailable warrant in his name because as he had left country before then on a diplomatic passport.

When asked for his comment, AAI chairman Guruprasad Mohapatra told PTI, "AAI is seeking legal remedy in the appropriate case in the cheque-bouncing case."
