Johnson Lifts eyes overseas acquisition

Kolkata: Chennai-headquartered Johnson Lifts Pvt Ltd, the 56-year old manufacturer of elevators and escalators with more than 1 lakh installations, 22 per cent market share in elevators and 48 per cent in escalator, is now looking at inorganic growth through acquisitions in new geographies like Dubai and Kenya. The company is also looking at Bangladesh as a potential market and that may happen within next three months.

The Rs 2,000-crore company exports elevators and escalators to Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Maldives and Tanzania. The current exports, which stands at 6 per cent of total revenues, is expected to grow 10 per cent year-on-year from here onwards, said Albert Dhiraviyam, Country Head (Market-ing), Johnson Lifts.

The firm is bullish about the growth of infrastructure sector in India and hopes to garner larger revenue from commercial and infrastructure sectors.
