PNB needs 6 months for normalcy: Sunil Mehta

New Delhi: PNB MD and CEO Sunil Mehta said on Friday that it will take it six months for the bank to come back to normalcy and the board is working on a strategy to exit non-core assets.

During  a conference call with investors, he said that the bank had more than sufficient capital as mandate by regulations.

The bank is also considering to expedite sale of some of its fixed assets, including few office buildings not in use presently, for about `500 crore by March-end, sources said.

“We will get back to normalcy within six months. Bank has the size and capacity to come out of the problem,” he said.

He said this was a stand alone case reported from one branch and has scanned other branches also for the problem.
