Nasscom launches reskilling portal
Hyderabad: As part of the IT industry’s attempts to reskill Indians in the emerging technologies, IT industry body Nasscom launched an online training platform FutureSkills.
It was remotely launc-hed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from New Delhi on Monday after addressing the delegates of WCIT-2018 thro-ugh video conference.
The platform aims to reskill existing employees, and potential employees and students of the IT industry to enable them to adapt themselves to the fast-changing technological landscape in the world.
According to Nasscom president R Chandrash-ekhar, the platform aims “to skill and upskill two million professionals and skill another two million potential empl-oyees and students over the next few years.”
It will offer training in eight emerging technologies such as artificial Intelligence, virtual reality, Internet of Things, big data analytics, 3D printing, cloud computing, social and mobile, and robotic process automation.
Nasscom has signed an MoU with the Union ministry of electronics and IT for strengthening re-skilling initiatives.
Addressing the media after signing of an MoU, Union IT minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said said Digital India means digital transformation of India. “My government has started efforts to take BPOs to smaller cities to reduce migration. Now BPOs are functioning in Patna, Kohima, Agartala and even in Srinagar,” he said.
