Supreme Court stays hotel Taj Mansingh auction
The property owned by the NDMC was given on a 33 years lease to the Indian Hotels Company Ltd.
Mumbai: In a major blow to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, the Supreme Court on Monday set aside the Delhi High Court order allowing the NDMC to go ahead with the auction of Taj Mansingh Hotel.
The Hotel run by Tata Group's Indian Hotels Company Ltd had challenged the HC order that said the company (IHCL) had no right on renewal of the licence for the property situated on the posh Mansingh Road in Lutyens Delhi. The IHCL had approached the apex court on November 7 with the plea.
The property owned by the NDMC was given on a 33 years lease to the IHCL. The lease expired in 2011 and since the IHCL managed to get nine temporary leases on different grounds.
