Talked Budget provisions for capital market with Sebi board: Arun Jaitley
Sebi board met a day after market regulator announced name of 1984 IAS officer Ajay Tyagi as new chief.
Mumbai: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday discussed capital market related announcements made in Union Budget 2017 with Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) board.
“Discussed future agenda of Sebi and budget announcements related to capital markets,” Jaitley said after the meeting of board of market regulator. The finance minister believed Sebi as a market regulator was evolving as a professional organisation.
The board meeting came a day after the market regulator announced name of senior bureaucrat Ajay Tyagi as new Sebi chief.
“It is a big responsibility and I am looking forward to handling it,” said Sebi chairman-designate Ajay Tyagi who is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Himachal Pradesh cadre.
