Banana macaroon delights, chicken and apple cake with carrot topping, apple cinnamon cookies or watermelon sorbet! If your are the health-conscious kinds, then how about wholewheat breads, ragi and chicken bones or dimsums. What would your favourite pick Oops .. wait no! Rather what would your pooch like to indulge in Maybe a '2,000 cake, '5,000 pretzel or a '1,0000 carob cake. As dog-owners are willing to spend more bucks to get the best treats possible, we check with canine caterers, who are laying out great spreads for pets. They offer everything from cakes to gourmet quiches and pizzas. Equipped with a degree in cat and dog nutrition and a pet chef by profession, Rashee Kachroo runs Doggie Dabbas, specialising in meals and baked goodies for dogs. “I was staying in Mumbai with my three dogs, a labrador, a poodle and a Pekinese. Somehow, they relished the food I made for them instead of any outside food. It struck me then,” recalls Rashee, who operates out of Gurgaon. Doggie Dabbas is two years old now and offers options like Carob Cookies, dimsums and pupperoni pizzas. “Carob is naturally sweet like an apple, looks like chocolate and is naturally appealing to the canines. We have started creating cakes and cookies with this new ingredient,” she adds. Most of her clients are those who are looking forward to give their dogs high quality food. While the expenses can go as high as '5000 per month, quality is the primary concern over here. Waggy Bags Gourmet Dog Bakery in Juhu, Mumbai, has New York-bred pet nutrit —ionist Kat Ferrara in partnership with city-based physiotheraphist Pratima Jamwal. But now Katty has left Mumbai to set up operations in New York and Pratima handles the bakery on her own. “Our cakes are made using honey instead of sugar and come in a variety of combinations ranging from chicken and cheese, beef and cheese and chicken and carrot to name a few. Since we use high-end ingredients including wholewheat breads and oatmeal, the food can actually be consumed by the owner and the dog together,” says Pratima. They also customise goodies according to requirements posed by vet and nutrionists. The prices can go upto '2,000- 4,000 per month. And if your canine just feels like going-out for a meal (just like we do!), then they should head for Bow Wow — The Barking Buddies Club, a doggie restaurant in Gurgaon. Pet lover Mamta Sharma started this exclusive restaurant for dogs with an extensive menu. Bow Wow is often booked for dogs’ birthday parties, and owners are spotted reading books while their pooches go through the extensive menu. Yadika Sharma of The Spoilt Brat bakery based in Nariman Point, says, “We have savoury goodies like paw shaped pizzas, pretzels, bagels, quiches, waffles, tail twisters and corn dogs. There are also options of frozen delights like Doggie Daiquiri, Banana Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt and Strawberry Frost,” she says. Bone Appetite, a Bengaluru-based bakery has introduced sardine and egg-based cookies , cakes and doughnuts. It was started last year by Priya Kulkarni and Shruti M. Saha, who grew up in a household with dogs, says, “We believe in feeding our dogs as well as we feed our families, which is why we make premium dog food and treats with wholesome, natural, top quality ingredients.” says Priya.
