Banned Hiken Shah vows to prove inn
Mumbai cricketer Hiken Shah, recently banned by the Board of Control for Cricket in India for making a corrupt approach to a teammate from the first class cricket, said he plans to approach the Mumbai high court and is confident of clearing his name.
Shah, who made his debut for Mumbai in 2006, was given a five-year ban by the Indian board for his involvement in the 2013 Indian Premier League spot-fixing scandal.
The 31-year-old had earlier approached the HC but the court junked his plea. This time, Shah is confident of proving his innocence.
“I plan to appeal in the high court next week and I’m 200% sure I will come clean. BCCI has no proof against me to prove their allegations. How can they come to a conclusion without proper evidence ” Shah asked.
The left-handed batsman, who has played 32 Ranji Trophy matches for Mumbai, said he was left disappointed by the verdict considering his past clean record in the cricketing circuit.
“I have played cricket all my life with great integrity and have never been involved in any controversy. I have been playing in England. I will never do anything that would tarnish my name,” Shah said in his defence.
Shah, who has also represented Jammu & Kashmir in the Ranji Trophy thanked his family for their support in the time of crisis.
