Faiz Fazal: Had not anticipated inclusion
New Team India face Faiz Fazal is in England where he got the “good news” of his inclusion in the squad for the tour of Zimbabwe.
Speaking from Durham where he is playing in the local leagues, Fazal says, “to be honest, I had not anticipated my inclusion in the side this time. Yes, I was hoping for a chance a few years ago but was disappointed when I was not chosen. I therefore had stopped hoping and decided only to concentrate on performing.”
Fazal is playing the North East Premier League for the Hetton Lyons Cricket Club.
“I shall speak to my club management here and will return India to join the team,” he added.
The good news was conveyed to him by his father Yaqoob Fazal. “My dad telephoned to me and I was pleasantly surprised”
Amazing feeling, says Chahal Yuzvendra Chahal, the 26-year-old leg break googly bowler was not sure about being picked for the T20I and ODI series in Zimbabwe despite a strong IPL display.
“I have been performing well but had not thought the selectors might pick me. Once I saw the news on TV and Twitter, it felt amazing. This is my maiden call and I am happy,” Yuzvendra said from Bengaluru, where his IPL team are based.
Jayant elated The 27-year-old googly bowler was in Lucknow where he received a call from his father Jaidev. “I have done well at the domestic level. My show in the Irani Cup and India A has earned me a call. I am happy and hope to do well,” he told this paper.
