It wasn’t just Hardik Pandya who was under pressure as he stood at the top of his run up with 11 runs to defend in the final over. His father Himanshu Pandya and family were tense as well.
“And when two consecutive boundaries were hit by Mushifiqur Rahim, I thought we had no chance. But Hardik brought the game in India’s favour by grabbing two wickets in two balls.”
Himanshu said he was glad that Hardik did justice to the faith shown by Dhoni in handing him the final over. “Dhoni didn’t prefer Raina and rotated their bowlers so Hardik could bowl the last over and my son proved his captain’s faith,” he added.
According to Himanshu, Hardik, who claimed two wickets and scored 15 runs, deserved the man of the match award.
