Though skipper Virat Kohli is on top of the scorers’ list in the current edition of the IPL, Royal Challengers Bangalore have managed just two wins from five matches. With the batsmen firing on all cylinders, the bowlers have failed to rise to the occasion to leave the Bengaluru team languishing at the sixth spot.
Speaking at a promotional event on Tuesday, the RCB pacer Kane Richardson, who has been guilty of leaking runs said, “It’s still early in the league. The bowlers need to step up. We need to find the right balance and that’s what we are working towards.”
Seasoned all-rounder Shane Watson, who joined RCB this season, has made his mark with the willow but not with the ball. “I hope I can play the way I do. I hope I can contribute with the ball in a big way. The team are doing great when it comes to putting up incredible totals and scoring runs but we are failing to defend them,” said the Australian.
“As bowlers we have to be able to read the batsmen properly. We need to come together perfectly as a team. As bowlers you have to stay one step ahead of the batsmen and bowl balls that they are not expecting or not really wanting at the moment. Reading the batsmen is the key for me and trying to bowl the unexpected delivery that can fetch a wicket is important,” signed off Watson.
