Responsibility can bring out the best in people, and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma is one such.Twin T20 titles in 2013 —the Indian Premier League and the Champions League T20 — have only help him grow as a cricketer and Sharma says it is important to lead from the front. “When you play well, then you inspire your team. I have got good support from my teammates, we have a good understanding. “I like to take the charge and lead from the front. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has done it so many times by leading from the front. He has inspired people by his own performance,” Sharma said after Mumbai’s emphatic 33-run win over the Rajasthan Royals in the CLT20 final here on Sunday night. The talented batsman, however, could not help but talk about his Test cricket aspirations asserting that he was “ready for it”. “I am up for it since the last six years to play in all the three formats. Modern cricket is such that you cannot lock your place, you have to be flexible. Hopefully, I will get an opportunity soon,” the 26-year old said. “I am waiting for the Test cap. I am waiting for the right time and opportunity.” Reflecting on Mumbai’s successful season, Sharma said, “It wasn’t easy, there was a lot of pressure when we started the IPL and again when we started the Champions League. “There were a lot of expectations and I think we held our nerve well. We showed a lot of character in the tournament and in the end the results favoured what we wanted.” Rajasthan kept up the pressure on Mumbai, cruising comfortably while chasing a massive 202, but off-spinner Harbhajan Singh came up with a magical over. He halted the charging Royals, taking out the middle order in just six deliveries. “I’m happy with the way I finished, although I didn’t practice at all,” Harbhajan said at the post-match presentation. “I was travelling in the US and I didn’t practice much before this but I’m really happy with the way I have finished this tournament. “I think that over where I took three wickets was probably the best I’ve bowled in the last three months.”
