AAP government set to audit account books of 97 private schools

The AAP government has directed 97 private unaided recognised schools to keep their records and account books ready for inspection by a team of empanelledchartered accountants.

The AAP government has directed 97 private unaided recognised schools to keep their records and account books ready for inspection by a team of empanelledchartered accountants. The government will be examining records of schools which had reportedly not furnished all requisite documents to the education directorate. The government had in April asked the schools to seek prior sanction from the Directorate of Education before increasing student fee and submit detailed proposals in this regard.

The government had sought online proposals for increase in fees from those unaided private schools which had been allotted land by the administration. They had been allotted land on cheaper rates on the condition that they would hike fee only after taking prior permission from the education department.

The administration is going to carry out an inspection of the schools whose documents and proposals were either found incomplete, illegible or not in specified format.

In a recent order, deputy education officer V.K. Gaur said the inspection of proposals and books of record of the schools would be carried out under Section 24 of the Delhi School Act, 1973 by the team of empanelled chartered accountants. It said every record and books of accounts shall be kept open by the manager or head of the school for scrutiny in accordance with sub-rule (3) of rule 180 of the Delhi School Education Rules, 1973.

“The manager / HoS of these schools are further directed to rectify the deficiencies pointed out by this directorate in the documents uploaded by the school and provide updated documents in legible and specified format to the chartered accountants on the first day of inspection, failing which, the proposal is liable to be rejected,” the order said.

Among the schools whose records would be inspected are Sanskriti School in Chanakyapuri, Cambridge Foundation in Rajouri Garden, Chinmaya Vidyalaya in Vasant Vihar, Delhi Public School in Vasant Kunj, St. Rosier Public School in Shalimar Bagh, Guru Teg Bahadur Public School in Model Town, Fr Agnel School Gautam Nagar, Laxman Public School in Hauz Khas, Mothers International School at Sri Aurobindo Marg, Pinnacle School in Panchsheel Enclave, Delhi Public School in Rohini, Mothers Mary’s School in Mayur Vihar, New Oxford School in Vivek Vihar, Alchon International School in Mayur Vihar, New Oxford Public School in Vivek Vihar, Baptist Convent School at I.P.
