Amidst the JNU row, there was turmoil in Delhi University on Friday following heated arguments and a minor clash between AISA activists and ABVP members at Arts Faculty. A campus clash out when the AISA activists, who belong to the Sangwari theatre group, were staging a play, JNU ka Sach, in front of an audience of more than 150 students.

The ABVP members interrupted the play and raised objection over the language and the content. The police was soon deployed on the spot and the crowd was dispersed.

AISA member Rahul Raj said that they have performed many plays before for which they never had to take permissions but this was unexpected. “We were conducting the play in Arts Faculty when all of a sudden some members of ABVP from DU itself came up with bats after which the whole clash started. They shouted slogans saying we are traitors and mocking RSS and BJP through our play. Soon the police was called which manhandled the crowd and the members. The SHO asked us not to continue with the play as it will be against law and order and might become controversial,” he said.

Following the clash, the crowd was dispersed after the police reached there and took control. Stuti, a student of North Campus, said, “We heard that the play was supposed to be on Bhagat Singh and JNU, but as we all know there are not many supporters of AISA in DU, like JNU, when the play was being enacted on Friday, RSS workers reacted, at which the ABVP supporters came in and a tussle took place between both the groups. The police was called in and all of us who were in the crowd were asked to disperse since the play was not allowed to continue anymore.”
