Delhi BJP president Satish Upadhyay has condemned the statement of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on the alleged tapping of phones of senior judges and the video statement issued by his party colleague, MLA Alka Lamba, on the terrorist issue.

Mr Upadhyay has said that time and again Mr Kejriwal and his team have fooled themselves by speaking on the issues of governance, national security, and judiciary, which are not in their working ambit. “It appears that Mr Kejriwal and his team have got into the habit of speaking beyond their working scope just to score political brownie points.”

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday created ripples by alleging that there is a widespread fear that the phones of judges are being tapped and said that if it is true, then, it is the biggest assault on the independence of the judiciary.

Mr Upadhyay said the country has a government which has vast respect for the judiciary as it consists of senior ministers who have been a part of the judicial system all their life and thus there is no question of any kind of spying on judges under the present government. “MLA Alka Lamba’s statement on the terrorists’ escape from Bhopal Jail was most dramatic as within hours, the escaped terrorists were killed,” he added.
