BJP targets government over withdrawal of pension
Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta on Saturday launched a scathing attack against the Kejriwal government saying that on one hand the chief minister talks about the interest of Sikhs and on the other orders are issued to withdraw the pension cheque given by the MCD to a 72-year-old disabled Sikh woman dependent on others.
Addressing a press conference in the presence of family members of the disabled woman, who is at the centre of the whole controversy, Mr Gupta said that Mr Kejriwal attacking a 74 per cent disable Sikh woman exposes his false drama of love for the Sikhs.
Speaking on the controversy regarding grant of pension by municipal councillor Shobha Vijender, his wife, to 72-year-old Harbhajan Kaur, Mr Gupta said that Dr Shobha had only recommended for the pension, based on the affidavit. After the recommendation, it is for the government officials to verify and sanction it and it is not the councillor’s responsibility. All the payments are made through cheques or by transfer into the accounts of the pensioner.
