The AAP government is all set to tighten its noose around officers who have failed to submit all the requisite information, clarifications and documents sought by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). The deadline for submission of the requisite information sought by the CVC expired on Friday.
The deadline was set after reviewing pending references during a series of meetings held from June 21 to 24 under the chairmanship of the vigilance secretary. The meetings were attended by senior officers of the Delhi government, special vigilance commissioners and other officers of the vigilance directorate. Despite notices, both the DDA and the anti-corruption branch, which directly work under the BJP-led Union government, did not participate in any of these meetings.
A senior officer said that prompt action would be taken against departments which have failed to submit all the information. “We do not want any adverse remarks from any independent institutions. We are an honest administration, so we have no fear in placing all the information before the CVC.”
During the past meetings, case wise discussions were reportedly held on pending CVC references with the concerned departments. A source said the vigilance secretary had taken a serious view of the inordinate delay by various departments. Sensing the gravity of the matter, the officers were directed to submit the required information on the CVC format along with duly signed assurance memo, latest by July 15 in all cases.
