An alleged carjacker was shot allegedly by one of his aides in Southwest Delhi’s Najabgarh. A senior police officer said that the alleged carjacker was identified as Devender. “He was shot at by his aide while committing a robbery. Devender’s gang did not want him to have a share in the robbery. They were robbing a man off his SUV in Najabgarh when he pumped a bullet into his body. The accused then made off with the car,” said the police official.

Devender was hospitalised in a private hospital where he had to undergo a surgery. The police registered a case against his aides following his complaint. “At the instance of Devender, we were able to catch his accomplices. They were identified as Neeraj, Amit and Sudhir,” the official said.

The three were interrogated in which they disclosed that they were had a grudge against Devender and wanted to eliminate him. They then hatched a conspiracy that next time whenever they would commit a robbery, they would shoot him, said the police official.

On the day of the incident, they asked Devender to catch hold of the man whose SUV they wanted to rob. When Devender caught the man, they got in into his car. “But as soon as Devender tried to get in into the vehicle, they shot at him. Devender suffered a gun wound and collapsed on the ground writhing in pain while his accomplices fled,” the police official said. Police said that two separate FIRs were registered in this respect. One from the man whose SUV was robbed off and second on the complaint of Devender.

“Devender was also arrested in the first FIR while his accomplices were arrested in both the cases,” the police official said. Devender and his gang hail from Jaipur and are wanted criminals. They were wanted for murders, which they committed in Guragon and Sonipat. Police also recovered four stolen Swift Dzire cars and a couple of SUV’s from the accused. The accused were booked under Sections 394, 397, 307, 34 and 25 and 27 Arms Act and further investigations are on, said the police official.
