Delhi University’s Shyam Lal College is set to launch an exclusive Centre for Industry Interaction and Skill Development (CIISD) Centre to provide its students an industry interaction interface platform. It also aims to serve several objectives such as better understanding of the needs of industries, specially their HR requirements.

The centre would help students to learn about signing agreements, MoU with companies in order to help colleges develop students’ skills in line with industry requirements as well as to place them in these companies. Industry experts as well as academia will be invited as guests to address and guide the students.

“We intend to go far beyond the traditional curriculum to enable our students to become confident citizens possessing the right type of skills and personalities to ensure ready employability in diverse industries,” said CIISD co-ordinator Anil Khurana.

The centre will not be providing any educational courses but would organise seminars and workshops to guide students on emerging career options. The workshops will also focus on improving confidence and skills of students for greater success in group discussions and personal interviews.

CIISD has been provided a budget as well as dedicated space in the college campus to conduct seminars, workshops and placement drives, adequately equipped with ICT facilities along with administrative support from the college. “The centre will be run exclusively by the college faculty, beginning with internal resources of the college. However, the centre seeks collaborations with industry, in terms of financing its activities, as well as manpower support. No assistance is sought from the government,” said Mr Khurana.
