A civil servant and his family were allegedly verbally abused by a group of four drunken youngsters who also tried to make a video of his wife and later when the cops arrived, argued with them in South Delhi on Wednesday night.
The family of a Danics officer, who is currently on deputation to DDA, was going from their house in Asiad village to their daughter’s school to drop her for school trip when their car was hit by another car, a Maruti Swift, coming from South Extension on August Kranti Marg near Siri Fort auditorium around 11.30 pm, said a senior police officer.
The officer was on his way to drop his 10-year-old daughter to school from where she was supposed to leave for her school trip to Spain.
The four youngsters, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, alighted from the car and started abusing the officer. When the officer protested, they became aggressive and started harassing him and “mocked” him to take action against them, added the officer.
When his wife tried to intervene and came to his rescue, they misbehaved with her as well all the while flaunting their high-profile connections, the police said.
One of the youngsters allegedly tried to make a video of the officer’s wife. When they protested against the youth for making their video, they were allegedly threatened and asked to back off.
Meanwhile, a patrolling party of sub-inspector Sachin and constable Chander, who crossed the spot, were stopped by the officer for help. The drunken youth also started misbehaving with the cops and abused them. The cops then called up the Hauz Khas police station for additional force. The youth were constantly telling the cops: “You don’t know about our influence.”
The four youth, identified as Sagar, Sagar Pawar, Mandeep, and Rahul, all aged between 20 and 24 have been arrested under Section 107/51 of CrPC. “A case under sections 279, 354A (sexual harassment), 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of IPC have been registered at the Hauz Khas police station against the youth,” said the officer.
