An infant, who was stolen from Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, has been reunited with his parents by the Delhi police on Friday within six hours after police teams started searching for the missing infant

An infant, who was stolen from Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital, has been reunited with his parents by the Delhi police on Friday within six hours after police teams started searching for the missing infant.

The police has arrested a woman, identified as Ruby, who had whisked away the infant from the hospital premises. The CCTV cameras installed in the hospital captured her deed. The accused lady has three daughters and allegedly wanted a son. According to the police, the father of the infant, Sunil Pandey, lives with his family in D block, Jahangirpuri. He works in Noida at the Hindustan Liver Company. On October 22, his wife, Soni, gave birth to their son at a hospital. He was named as Kartik. The couple had twin daughters and were trying for a son.

However, Kartik suffered an infection because of which he was admitted to Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. He was shifted to ward number 1 for his treatment. Sunil Pandey had alleged that he and his wife were never allowed by the guard posted outside the ward to enter the room. He had to wait outside with his wife as the baby’s treatment was underway.

On the day of the incident, when Sunil inquired about his son, he found that Kartik was missing. His mother had gone to the bathroom to relieve herself. This infuriated Sunil, who called his relatives to the hospital. The police was also informed about the incident through a PCR call. “We were informed about the incident after which we reached the hospital. We questioned the hospital staff and also procured the CCTV footage from the hospital. We saw a woman taking out the infant from the ward. The CCTV footage was also given to many police officers who then started tracking the woman,” said a senior police official.
