Laxmibai College launches new app for students
In a unique development, Delhi University’s Laxmibai College has created a mobile app through which students will soon be able to place photocopy orders of any important document or textbooks while paying the amount at the same time. Such an app has been created for the first time by any DU college.
The app was initially launched in July to provide students with class schedule notifications, announcements and information. But the college added this new feature to the app recently in order to provide students more relief.
“Nowadays, everybody is using smartphones for their work. Looking at such a situation, the college came up with the idea of creating a time-saving facility app. So far, the app was only being used to inform the students about the announcements, information and notices,” the college principal, Dr Pratyusha Vatsala, said.
“But now, the students will be able to place photocopy orders of any textbook or document from anywhere and pay the amount of the order through the app at the same time. We are also planning to add the college library to this app,” Dr Vatsala added.
However, it will become easier to send the photocopied documents through smartphones.
In addition to this, the students are directly getting connected to the principal through messages too. Recently, the facility to order food from the canteen has been introduced on the same app.
The principal maintained that a panic button is also being added to the app looking at the importance of safety of girl students.
“The button will include the numbers of fire fighters, police, and four more numbers of her closed members. If a student is in trouble, she can press the panic button through which the required information will reach to all of them within seconds,” Dr Vatsala said.
