Launching an offensive against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allowing the visit of Pakistan’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to probe Pathankot terror attack, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday suggested that the PM’s overture was aimed to secure a “Nobel Peace Prize.” Speaking during the ongoing Budget Session of the Delhi Assembly, Mr Kejriwal also questioned the “secret pact” that Mr Modi has struck with his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to allow such a team to visit India.

He also attacked Mr Modi for the hasty imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand and alleged that the Central government will attempt to “destabilise” the government of Delhi and Himachal Pradesh. He amounted the imposition of President’s rule in Uttarakhand as the “murder” of “Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Consti-tution.” Mr Kejriwal said he was aware of plans to destabilise the Delhi and Himachal Pradesh governments.

Deprecating the “horse-trading” in Uttarakhand, Mr Kejriwal dared the Bharatiya Janata Party to “buy” a single Aam Aadmi Party MLA. “An IB officer has told me that one big industrialist has been entrusted with the task of buying AAP MLAs. BJP knows that it will not win a single election in the next two years so it has resorted to goondagardi. They will try it in Himachal Pradesh and Delhi next. In Delhi, they plan to suspend 21 MLAs first and then attempt to buy 23 more,” Mr Kejriwal alleged.

The Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijender Gupta, along with other BJP MLAs O.P. Sharma and Jagdish Pradhan staged a walkout of the CM’s address protesting against his “malignant and mischievous attitude where he shamelessly turned the occasion of CM’s reply to L-G’s speech last week into an arena of national politics.”

“In place of confining himself to Delhi’s budget proposals in context of L-G’s speech, he made uncharitable comments on India’s foreign policy and national security matters. These matters lie beyond jurisdiction of the floor of Vidhan Sabha,” Mr Gupta said.

Mr Kejriwal repeatedly took swipes at the PM for allowing the Pakistan’s JIT to probe the Pathankot terror attack and alleged that Centre’s decision may have been influenced by a “deal” struck between Modi and Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

“Why is the Prime Minister allowing this Some say that he wants the Nobel Peace Prize or wants to please the United States. The country wants to know the deal struck between Modi and Sharif during the Lahore stopover.”
