Najeeb’s mother meets CM Arvind Kejriwal

Fatima, the mother of missing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najeeb Ahmed, met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at his official residence on Monday.

Fatima, the mother of missing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najeeb Ahmed, met chief minister Arvind Kejriwal at his official residence on Monday.

According to the JNU Students Union’s (JNUSU) general secretary Satarupa Chakraborty, Mr Kejriwal has assured help to expedite investigation in the case. He said that he will take up the issue with all the concerned authorities, including Union home minister, Rajnath Singh. Fatima, who was accompanied by relatives and a JNUSU delegation, had earlier said that she had “lost all faith” in the university administration. Mr Ahmed (27), a student of the School of Biotechnology and a native of Badaun in Uttar Pradesh, went missing on October 15 following a hostel fracas the night before with the members of ABVP, RSS’s student wing. A government official said that during the meeting, Mr Kejriwal told the family that he was with them and would leave no stone unturned in helping them find the missing student.

Mr Kejriwal was quoted saying: “I am with you and will do whatever is required to help trace him. It’s a very serious matter and the government will not let you down.”
