Narendra Modi, Arvind Kejriwal fooling people for votes: Rahul Gandhi
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing them of fooling people for political mileage.
Leading the Mashaal Jaloos, accompanied by the senior Delhi Congress brigade, including DPCC President Ajay Maken, Arvinder Singh Lovely and Barkha Singh, Mr Gandhi attempted to regain the Congress’ lost ground in the capital.
Though Mr Gandhi kept the Congress entourage and workers waiting before making an appearance two hours late, he spoke on the power and water crisis in the capital, setting the ground for the MCD polls next year.
“I indulge in politics based on Mahatma Gandhi’s ideology, I can never indulge in politics of lie and false promises.” Targeting Mr Kejriwal, Mr Gandhi said, “When MCD workers went to Delhi CM to put forth their grievances, the CM said that I can give you one month ’s salary, can’t do anything more. A person who says that can never understand the problems and pain of MCD workers.”
“It is an age of Internet, selfies... In India, Modiji and Kejriwalji think they can fool people everytime,” he said.
“Kejriwalji promised uninterrupted electricity and water, but after coming to power all these promises were forgotten,” he added.
Mr Gandhi, who was atop a vehicle in a huge convoy, said that Mr Kejriwal had made tall promises about solving the city’s electricity and water problems, but was now trying to divert the issue by raking up “odd-even” and pollution issues.
Adding to the bijli-paani agenda of Mr Gandhi, Mr Maken said, “While Rahulji was talking about the ongoing water and power crisis gripping the capital, Modiji is talking of hollow promises.”
Similarly taking a dig at the Prime Minister, Congress leader Sharmishtha Mukherjee said, “ Modiji should know he cannot fool the people for long. People want action not empty promises.”
