NDMC officers told to keep area clean
The North Delhi Municipal Corporation has directed its sanitation officials to ensure proper sanitation in at least one area where they are posted. Newly-elected NDMC standing committee chairman Pravesh Wahi said there are four officers, three assistant sanitation inspectors and one sanitary inspector in a municipal ward. They have been directed to ensure cleanliness of an area under their jurisdiction daily.
BJP councillors Pravesh Wahi and Rajesh Bhatia were elected on Tuesday for the posts of chairman and deputy chairman of the NDMC standing committee, respectively.
Talking about his priorities, Mr Wahi said his focus would be on Swachchh Bharat Mission and keeping North Delhi cleaner with the cooperation of RWAs. “Now, onwards zonal deputy commissioners, sanitary inspectors and assistant sanitary inspectors will have to ensure cleanliness of an area under their jurisdiction daily. By this, we would be able to clean more than 400 colonies intensively in a day,” added Mr Wahi.
The standing committee chairman announced that first instalment of '25 lakh for development fund would be released soon to the councillors. “For last one year, the councillors have not received a single penny for development work in their wards under the local area development fund. The first instalment will be released in a couple of days to carry out small development or maintenance work. More funds will be released in coming days,” said the standing committee chairman.
The deputy chairman, Mr Rajesh Bhatia, said his priority would be improving public dealings at the corporation’s offices and strict implementation of rainwater harvesting and rejuvenation of water bodies like baolis in Old Delhi.
The NDMC commissioner Praveen Gupta ensured full cooperation from the entire executive wing to the newly-elected chairman and deputy chairman in execution of various plans and policies passed by the committee.
