New format of entrance exam gets mixed views

Delhi University’s decision to opt only for multiple-choice questions (MCQs) in the entrance examinations for admission to post-graduate courses has received mixed responses from the PG aspirants.

Heena Bhadu, a political science aspirant said, “I think it’s a positive change. The base of any entrance exam for any course is to know if that particular candidate is aware about the particular course or not. The university can find this out even through MCQs in the exam paper. The biggest drawback for political science exam was that aspirants had to write long answers which the examiner might not even read, but now there won’t be any such drawback.”

Another aspirant, Anukriti Sehgal, said, “I think it would have been better if we had subjective questions as it would have helped us express our views and opinions more. Although in MCQs it will be easier for us to just choose an option and answer, it would limit our views to a yes and no kind of situation.”
