Writer accuses MTNL official of molestation
A police complaint was filed against a senior MTNL official who allegedly molested a 24-year-old-girl in East Delhi’s Laxmi Nagar area on Saturday. The incident occurred when the victim went to an MTNL exchange office with a problem regarding her Internet modem.
The victim, who is a writer by profession, went to the telephone exchange regarding some issue. In her complaint she said that the official, who was working in Laxmi Nagar telephone exchange, allegedly kissed and touched her inappropriately. The Delhi police has filed a case under IPC Section 354(A) of the IPC. The accused officer has been identified as C.P. Sharma.
In her FIR, the victim has alleged that Mr Sharma called her to her cabin under the pretext of helping her exchange the modem. “The moment I entered into his cabin, CP Sharma started complimenting me saying you (the victim) are so young, such an innocent face, good personality, good body, and so on,” said the victim in her statement.
She alleged that Sharma had asked her to meet on Saturday. “When I was leaving from his cabin, I shook his hand to wish him happy Diwali. He did not leave my hand and said I don’t want you to go, don’t go, and when will you come back,” the victim stated. “Second time when I was leaving, he hugged me twice and kissed me on the neck. I felt disgusted,” she added.
The victim further said that there was one lady staff around and she walked into the cabin twice to serve tea. According to the victim, the accused also threatened to defame her by using the photographs she has posted of her dance performances on Facebook.
She alleged that when she filed complaint, initially, the police tried to hush the matter. However, when she persisted for over three hours, a case was registered against the official.
