Deja vu! Deepika thanks Shahid for Padmaavat just like Alia did for Udta Punjab
Mumbai: Shahid Kapoor was in the news in 2016 as Alia Bhatt couldn’t stop thanking him for suggesting her name for ‘Udta Punjab’. Alia co-incidentally even won the best actress award for the film. Now it looks like Shahid has a euphoria moment as he is thanked again, this time by Deepika Padukone, for doing ‘Padmaavat’.
Deepika was at an interview with India Today recently, where she mentioned, “I don’t think ‘Padmavati’ (now ‘Padmaavat’) would have been ‘Padmavati’ without Ranveer as Khilji and Shahid Kapoor as Maha Rawal Ratan Singh. They have done what they have done with a big heart and a lot of generosity and I recognize that; for the work that they have put in and for the risks that both of them have taken for the film. A lot of people advised them to not do the film because the film was the name of female protagonist.”
She added, “The day we finished the screening, I gave him a tight hug and it was an extremely emotional moment for all of us and all I could do is look him in the eye and thank him for doing this film.”
Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor camaraderie was quite visible on the social media during the filming of the movie. Ranveer Singh, who is reportedly dating Deepika, was also supposedly upset with their closeness and reports of the two actors’ cold war often made the rounds in media agencies.
‘Padmaavat’ has been much-delayed due to trouble caused by the Karni Sena and some other groups. The movie got its release when the court finally lifted the ban put on it. In fact, ‘Padmaavat’, which released on Republic Day, was going to clash with Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’, but the actor and ‘Padmaavat’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali publicly announced that ‘Padmaavat’ will have a solo release.
