Parvin Dabas opens up on Mirror Game
While model-turned-actor Parvin Dabas’s fashion and film choices have left many people nod and naff in equal measure, we must credit the Bollywood hunk for playing Mirror Game. Dabas, who is busy promoting the thriller Mirror Game, feels that thrillers work on the silver screen only when you don’t try to be over-smart with your films. “I don’t think it’s the problem with the genre. It’s a problem with individual films. If you try and be over- intellectual, then the audience won’t accept it. There has to be some sort of entertainment value, irrespective of the genre,” he says.
Dabas, who won acclaim with films like Monsoon Wedding, The Hero: Love Story of a Spy, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara and Khosla Ka Ghosla, believes that one needs to be a step ahead of the audience. “But you can’t try to be over-smart. If you engage the audience and make them think, it will work,” he says.
The actor recalls losing out on a nice film due to date issues. “Filmmaker Revathy wanted to cast me in Phir Milenge. She narrated the script to me and I couldn’t work out on the dates. Unfortunately, the film that I was doing that time never released,” he recalls.
