Respect is key in a relationship, says Priyanka Chopra

The actress shares what makes her relationship with Nick Jonas work

Priyanka Chopra, who is all set to walk down the aisle with her singer fiancé, Nick Jonas, says that respect is the glue that bolsters their relationship. Talking about how important the value is in a relationship, she said in an interview with People Magazine, “Truly this is what worked for me, he has to be someone who respects you. By that, I don't mean makes coffee for you, not that. But someone who respects the hard work you put into your life,” adding that her ideal partner is one “Who respects that if his work is important, so is yours. Or if he makes choices that are important to him, so is your opinion. That's respect, and that's incredible to have.”

The actress also urged women to refrain from settling for less than what they deserve. “Then everything is so easy because you give each other credit for your intelligence, you give each other the benefit of the doubt because you trust each other. There's so much that comes out of that. I think don't settle for less than that,” she said.

The actress enjoyed a lavish bridal shower last Sunday, which was hosted by her bridesmaids. PeeCee wore a stunning Marchesa gown to the event. Rumour has it that the couple will tie the knot in December, but no dates have been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, We keep hearing about how Priyanka Chopra is doing great things in Hollywood, but with every new release, we’re left wondering if the Quantico star is just a one-hit-wonder in America’s tinsel town. The trailer of PC’s upcoming film Isn’t It Romantic has just come out, and it looks like this may be her most abbreviated role yet.

In the hectic trailer, the actress appears on screen for no more than 5 seconds in a story dominated by comic actress Rebel Wilson. And we’re seriously wondering why she’s playing such an insignificant supporting role, that too in a rom-com full of bad jokes.

In her last Hollywood outing, A Kid Like Jake, Priyanka at least had the consolation of playing second fiddle to the highly-acclaimed Claire Danes in a film that made an important statement about the rearing of children and gender issues. But this upcoming release isn’t doing her any favours.

And we’re not the only ones puzzled by her recent career moves. A Bollywood director who has offered Priyanka a role in a content-driven film feels that she’s wasting her talent in America. “After Quantico, they don’t know where to fit her in. She is struggling to make a name for herself with minuscule roles. She should come back home. The sky is the limit for her in India. Why is she wasting her time doing inconsequential movies in Hollywood?” the director says.
