Hrithik's Kaabil not to clash with SRK's Raees, to release a day prior
Mumbai: Producer Rakesh Roshan whose next film toplining his superstar son Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam will release on Wednesday January 25. It is a normal trade practice to release films on Fridays. However in this case, Rakesh who is extremely confident of the content has been requested by his distributors to go in for a Wednesday 6 pm release because this way they can encash on the Republic Day (January 26) holiday.
A confident Rakesh said, “There have been instances in the past of movies being released mid-week especially if there is a big National holiday following it. My director Sanjay Gupta and I are in agreement on this. After hearing what our distributors have to say, we thought it makes perfect sense go with a January 25 release.''
While Hrithik had a colossal debacle in Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'Mohenjo Daro' in 2015, his only release in two years, Shah Rukh Khan had a unanimous critical success in 'Fan' and is still riding high on the superlative success of Gauri Shinde's 'Dear Zindagi'.
With Rahul Dholakia's 'Raees' being amongst the most eagerly awaited films in recent times, it remains to be seen how this titanic box-office face-off is eventually going to pan out.
'Kaabil,' helmed by Sanjay Gupta, also stars Yami Gautam, Ronit Roy and Rohit Roy.
