Kareena Kapoor's I-T account hacker in cop net

Actor's hardcore fan learnt hacking skills to get her phone number.

Mumbai: The Mumbai cyber police arrested a 26-year-old Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) employee on Monday for allegedly hacking into Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor's income tax (I-T) account last October.

He apparently hacked the account to get access to her phone number since he is a “hardcore fan” of the actress’, police sources said. He even learnt hacking skills in order to break into her account.

A police team picked up the accused, Manish Kumar, from a city in north India and then brought him to Mumbai, confirmed a police source, refusing to identify the north Indian city. The source added: “The accused has been working in an I-T department office for the past four years. He is not well-educated, but started learning computer languages and hacking technology to get Kareena Kapoor’s phone number. He is a hardcore fan of hers.” The source added, “The accused used to help his friends pay their tax returns and got used to the technological system over the past few years.”

The source also said, “The accused procured Kareena’s Permanent Account Number and other details by hacking into her I-T account. After hacking into the account via the E-Intermediator software, he then also filed her I-T returns. The accused knew that when I-T returns are filed, one usually gets the mobile number of the person concerned in the receipt. But after he filed Kareena’s I-T returns, he somehow did not get her phone number in the receipt and thus could not call her.”

Kumar allegedly confessed his crime during his interrogation by case officials. The accused has been booked under sections 43, 66 and 66 (c) of the Information Technology Act. Kareena’s chartered accountant had filed a complaint against an unidentified person on October 1 last year for allegedly hacking into her income tax account and filing a false return claim.
