The star system is fading, says Yami Gautam
The Bollywood-industry’s working culture has been highly obliged to the star system in the past, but with the content-based cinema hogging the limelight now, the working culture seems to be changing for good.
Actress Yami Gautam, who hails from a non-filmy background, has a different approach to the Bollywood industry culture. She says, “I think a star shouldn’t know that he or she is a star and that’s the beauty of it. You should be an actor and you should know what gave you that stardom. The whole meaning of stardom is changing. There is so much awareness overall in people that star system is fading.”
Yami, who will now be seen in Uri with Vicky Kaushal, feels that the industry is very consuming and requires balancing the professional and personal fronts. “It is a consuming industry and you have to keep a balance between professional self and the person that you are. Even if there are personal problems you are constantly facing the cameras so sometimes suppressing those feelings can be taxing for yourself,” says the Vicky Donor actress.
