South actress Sobhita Dhulipala has been approached to play the lead in the Hindi remake.
The talks for the remake of 2015 Tamil horror comedy film Kanchana 2 written, produced, and directed by Raghava Lawrence, who enacted dual roles in it, have been going on for a while.
While first it was Salman Khan and then Ajay Devgn whose names were being tossed up for this film, for the past six months — it is Akshay Kumar who has shown keen interest in the remake.
South actress Sobhita Dhulipala of Goodachari fame has been approached to play the lead in the Hindi remake, which in all probability will be helmed by Raghava himself, though it is not confirmed yet.
“Sobhita was seen in Chef and Kaalakandi with Saif Ali Khan. She is shooting for two back-to-back web shows — Bard Of Blood for Netflix and Made In Heaven for Amazon. And is shooting for Ajay Devgn’s Taanaji: The Unsung Warrior. The remake produced by Shabina Khan who produced Gabbar Is Back and co-produced Rowdy Rathore with Akshay. In fact, Tusshar Kapoor will also turn producer with this film,” says a trade source.
Akshay will start working on this film once he is done with Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi, based on an operation done by Anti-Terrorism Squad operations. Akshay already has five films up for release this year.
