It is indeed a big and emotional day for the late Sridevi’s family, as Boney, Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor attended the National Film Awards ceremony held in Delhi on Thursday.

The late actress’s elder daughter, Janhvi looked stunning at the event as she chose to wear a Manish Malhotra saree from her mother’s personal collection to the 65th National Film Awards ceremony, where she received her late mother’s Best Actress award.

Sridevi won the Best Actress National Award posthumously for her role in Mom. Manish, who was extremely close to Sridevi posted a photograph of Janhvi on Instagram wearing the saree and wrote an emotional message.

Manish who is Janhvi’s and Sridevi’s preferred designer, wrote, “The very pretty Janhvi Kapoor as she goes to receive Sridevi ma’am’s much deserved National Award for her fabulous performance in MOM. An actress and a human being and the friend that we all miss every day of our life’s. Janhvi Kapoor in her mom’s personal saree for this emotional and precious (sic).”

Meanwhile, more than 68 winners of the National Film Awards on Thursday said they would boycott the ceremony after it was announced that President Ram Nath Kovind would be felicitating only 11 winners out of the total 137 recipients.

An official statement from the Rashtrapati Bhawan expressed ‘surprise’ at the ‘11th hour questions’ saying that the president attends all award functions for a maximum of one hour and that this was conveyed to the Information and Broadcasting ministry days before. “The President attends all award functions and convocations for a maximum of one hour.

This has been the protocol since he took office. It was conveyed to Information and Broadcasting Ministry several weeks ago and the ministry knew this all along. Rashtrapati Bhavan is surprised by the 11th hour questions that have been raised,” said Ashok Malik, press secretary to the president.
