Vivek Agnihotri, often known for speaking his mind, had certain things to say about dalits this time.
Mumbai: Vivek Agnihotri, who is often known for getting into trouble for speaking his mind, had certain things to say about dalits this time. He shared a note where he mentioned how he, a Brahmin got a 26B seat on an airplane, but the other man, a Dalit, was made to sit on 1A. On this, Vivek also referred to the pyramid being inverted.
This obviously did not go down well with many people. Some tried to put sense into him while others just shunned him. But out of the whole lot, ‘Masaan’ director Neeraj Ghaywan gave a befitting reply. Here’s his tweet:
I am a Dalit. I won the Cannes film award for our country. Also the Cannes advertising award. I won the National award & the Filmfare award. All without using my Dalit identity. And yes, I fly business class now and I will offer you my seat next time you’re on the same plane. pic.twitter.com/i2kfuqpwCi— Neeraj Ghaywan (@ghaywan) January 3, 2018
But Neeraj too had to handle the heat of certain people. Here are a few examples:
Will never use the caste card nor will I look down upon it.— Neeraj Ghaywan (@ghaywan) January 3, 2018
Serving with dignity :)— Neeraj Ghaywan (@ghaywan) January 3, 2018
Even then, Vivek called Neeraj playing politics and posted a number of tweets later on:
So my Dalit friends, beware of these:— Vivek Agnihotri (@vivekagnihotri) January 5, 2018
1. Dalits sons or grandsons of a successful Dalit leader
2. Any Dalit leader who is seen with JNU gang
3. Anybody from @INCIndia or @ndtv
4. ‘fake-empathy’ intellectuals and SM warriors.
5. Cannes award winners who still say ‘I am a Dalit’.
Vivek Agnihotri is an Indian filmmaker, who made the first installment of ‘Hate Story’ franchise.
